The Mycorrhizal network or 'wood wide web'
Ecologist Suzanne Simard discovered plants have a highly complex underground communication network, formed by a type of fungi called mycorrhizae.
Mycorrhizae attach to the roots of plants, sending out fine thread-like filaments to the roots of other plants and forming an underground web that can stretch dozens of meters in a virtual “plant Internet”.

Furthermore, the fungi will connect one tree to another through their network, which allows them to defend themselves more effectively.
Trees that get attacked by bugs, for instance, release chemical signals into the fungi. Neighbouring trees pick up these signals and increase their own resistance to the threat.
in a biological "tree-to-tree" communication.

This finding has profound implications on our understanding of eco systems and many scientists now believe that forests and their entire contents are in fact singular superorganisms.

Talk That Travels Beneath Our Feet
A Silent Sound
But I Hear Each Beat
Unheard Whispers
No One Believes Me
Talk That Travels Beneath Our Feet
From Bough to Root
This Silent Heart Beat
Unheard Whispers Through the Leaves
This Forest is Talking to Me
Sience Whispers Through the Leaves
This Bark, Their Bite
Each Murmur Just Might Be This Forest Talking
Each Branch, Every Leaf and Bow,
It Knows, I'm Certain Somehow,
That We Can Hear This Forest Talking
